Glasgow based artist, Martin Boyce creates atmospheric, sculptural art inspired by modernist design history – beautiful pieces (see below). So who else better to compliment the current Design Research Unit: 1942–72 exhibition, showing at the Cooper Gallery in Dundee?
Martin is one of 4 UK artists to be shortlisted for this year’s Turner Prize, which is probably the world’s most well-known and prestigious award for contemporary art. He will be talking in Dundee, at this free event on Thursday 1st December, at 5.30pm.
The Turner Prize 2011 nominated artists include Karla Black, Martin Boyce, Hilary Lloyd and George Shaw; and an exhibition of their work is being held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art – where on Monday 5th December 2011, the Turner Prize 2011 winner will be revealed.
So, with a 1 in 4 chance that you’ll hear from the future Turner Prize 2011 winner, just days before the announcement, the odds are pretty good and this is one not to be missed!
