20th May, 6:00pm at GENERATORprojects
Launched in the early 2000s, They Had Four Years exists as an opportunity for GENERATORprojects to support and nurture recently-graduated artists. One year on from their Degree Shows, a selection of handpicked Fine Art graduates from art schools across Scotland get the opportunity to exhibit newly commissioned work in the GENERATORprojects galleries. Each also receives guidance and networking opportunities from Team Gen as they develop their practice in the world beyond art school.
This year’s edition features the work of four artists: Madeleine Kaye (DJCAD), Gianni Esporas (Gray’s School of Art), Josie Ko, and Melanie Chuaiprasit (both Glasgow School of Art). Each has created a body of work which is ambitious and tender, thoughtfully reflecting on their personal histories.
The impact of the pandemic has meant that many 2021 graduates missed out on showcasing their work publicly in a physical Degree Show, which makes this year’s exhibition at GENERATORprojects even more exciting and meaningful.
