Creative Dundee

Make/Share – October Line Up

Creative Dundee and Dundee MakerSpace invite you to the next Make/Share event on Wed 14th October from 7-8.30pm, at Dundee MakerSpace, down at the Vision building.

This time around, 4 speakers will give short informal talks about their experience, thoughts, inspirations around Collaborative Working.

Working with others can lead to a more efficient use of resources, it offers valuable advantages of sharing knowledge and information… How do we do collaboration well? What kind of working environments help collaboration? Those are the topics that will be covered on the night!

After the talks, there is the chance to discuss this in more detail. The event is very relaxed, held in an open plan space full of inspiring tools (including a loom!). You can watch a video of our first Make/Share here.

Doers/makers speaking about their process this time include:

Malath Abbas

Malath is an independent game designer, artist and producer working on experimental and meaningful games. Since co-founding the award winning studio Quartic Llama, Malath is establishing Scotland’s first game collective and co-working space in order to support a community of independent game makers. His current work includes Killbox, an online game and interactive installation that critically explores the nature of drone warfare, its complexities and consequences. It is an experience which explores the use of technology to transform and extend political and military power, and the abstraction of killing through virtualisation. Killbox will involve audiences in a fictionalized interactive experience in virtual environments based on documented drones strikes in Northern Pakistan. The work is an international collaboration with U.S. based artist/activist, Joseph DeLappe and Scotland-based artists and game developers Tom Demajo and Albert Elwin.
Malath will talk about the collaborative projects I’ve contributed to as artist, designer and producer. In and in particular I will focus on my latest piece of work Killbox and the Dundee Game Collective.

Make/Share – Monthly Events:

Bringing together people who make things, whatever they may be! MAKE/SHARE is the chance to hear a few informal talks by people about the things they’ve made and the process they’ve gone through to make them.
We also have space to show and demo your creations/products/processes, so please just bring them along on the night – we’ll have tables and a plug socket or two on offer if needed.
If you’d like to talk about a project you’ve been working on at a future MAKE/SHARE, just get in touch, or feel free to bring along your things to show and demo (creations/products/processes) on the night.
