Creative Dundee

November Make/Share – Line Up

Share what you do and profile your work at Make/Share!

Make/Share is a free monthly night, bringing people together to gain a behind the scenes insight into creative processes, held on the second Wednesday of each month, at The Beer Kitchen Dundee, from 7-8.30pm.

Join us on Wed 9 Nov to hear short talks by people about the processes behind turning their project or product into reality. Speakers explore how their project or product has evolved, progressed, changed and transformed, how they experiment, what their biggest challenges have been and how they overcame them.

Short talks include the opportunity to show and demo your work. Just bring them along on the night – or share your upcoming events with the group, we’ll make sure to tweet about them. After the talks we have a short opportunity for any questions and discussion.

We’re also delighted to let you know that The Beer Kitchen is our official sponsor venue for Make/Share and supporting the event with a complementary beer or soft drink.

You don’t need to sign up, just come along!

Speakers this time include:

Jasmine Holt

Jasmine is in her final year studying illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Over the past summer she has been working with Creative Dundee to explore the impact of Pecha Kucha Dundee. Having gathered these stories and insights, Jasmine designed and illustrated a webpage to communicate all of this, which can be found here: https://creativedundee.com/pkninsights/. Jasmine’s Website | Instagram: @jasholtillustration

Christos Michalakos

Christos is a composer, performer, designer and software developer. He enjoys living and working as a lecturer in Dundee, where he leads the Sound and Music for Games BA programme at Abertay University. He is particularly interested in the synergies between sound, space, games, improvisation and bespoke performance environments, which he has explored in various forms over the years through performances, sound installations and experimental games. Christos will talk about his creative process and some of the ideas behind his upcoming performance-game, Icarus. Christos’ Website | Twitter: @cmichalakos

Nick Taylor & Loraine Clarke

Nick and Loraine are based in DJCAD’s Research Studio, where they research how technology and design can be used to support communities. They’ll be talking about the Ardler Inventor Days, a series of hackathon-style events run over the summer, which aimed to bring together people from the Ardler community with makers to imagine new ways to support and celebrate their local area. Some of the participants from Ardler will also be on hand to talk about their inventions. Project’s Website | Twitter: @ArdlerInventors

Richard Messitt

Rick is the Client Director of Zudu an app dev company in Dundee. He uses his knowledge of games design and user interfaces to transform static websites and mobile apps into powerful, engaging user experiences. When he isn’t obsessing over your website’s user journey and converting more of your traffic into customers he is probably building crazy contraptions in Minecraft or passionately promoting Bitcoin.
