Perth Festival of the Arts is now in its 48th year. It started as an opera and classical music festival in the early 70s and now covers all art forms. It features international and national artists and orchestras from the worlds of classical music, opera, rock, jazz, Celtic, comedy, theatre, dance and the visual arts.
The 2019 Festival begins on Thursday 16th May and runs until Saturday 25th in venues including Perth Concert Hall & Theatre, St John’s Kirk, St Matthews Church, Perth Cathedral and The Loft nightclub. As always, the Festival caters for all ages and tastes; from free concerts and young musician recitals to the best in world-class performers.
Over the years, they’ve hosted big names including Bryn Terfel, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Nigel Kennedy, Van Morrison, Nicola Benedetti, The Proclaimers, KT Tunstall, Calvin Harris, Sharleen Spiteri, Edwyn Collins, Dara O Briain, Russell Howard, Julian Clary, Paul Merton, Treacherous Orchestra and many more.
