Craft Scotland Opportunities

Craft Scotland helps people learn about, appreciate and buy craft, promoting the contribution of craft to Scotland’s cultural, economic and social well-being.

They have opportunities available for makers, which are currently open for applications! Have a look at a few of them below and be sure to apply… Note the deadlines for each, as some of them will be coming up soon!


Apply for Collect 2020

Deadline: 5pm, 1 July 2019

Craft Scotland is now inviting applications from makers working at the very highest standards of their craft practice to showcase at Collect 2020. Makers may use a range of materials including ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood, metal, stone, plastic and textiles.

Collect, the international art fair for modern craft and design is the craft sector’s premier showcase, bringing together galleries, artists and collectors from around the world. It offers visitors an unrivalled opportunity to see and buy contemporary museum-quality craft from established and emerging artists and makers represented by over 40 of the world’s finest galleries.

COMPASS: Next Generation Programme

Deadline: 5pm, 18 July 2019

COMPASS: Next Generation Programme will run on an annual basis. Applications are now open for the 2019 programme, which will commence in October 2019.

We have up to 20 places available for a dedicated cohort of makers, who will work through the programme together.

The Next Generation programme of COMPASS is a personal and business development programme for makers at the start of their career. We know that the first year in business is challenging. COMPASS: Next Generation Programme will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to decide how they want to take their business idea forward.

The programme is designed for those who have just graduated or those who have just started their practice and have been in business for less than a year.

COMPASS: Tailored Support for Established Makers

Deadline: midnight, 20 June 2019

Do you feel in need of challenge or momentum, or you are not sure how to move forward with a particular aspect of your practice? If so, then this programme might be for you.

COMPASS: Established Maker Programme is open to professional makers who are looking to develop themselves and/or their practice. An established maker would ideally be someone who has been practising for four or more years. Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to developing their craft practice.

COMPASS is Craft Scotland’s brand-new learning and development programme created specifically for makers. Compass is generously supported by the William Grant Foundation and Creative Scotland.
