Amps Dundee is a diverse community of over 170 individuals and organisations who share a passion for the city’s creative scene and support the work of Creative Dundee. This involves regular meet-ups, celebrations, funding opportunities, special content and more…
Over the last couple of weeks, as we’ve been unable to meet in person, the Amps community has come together for weekly breakfast hangouts on video chat to check in with each other, offer updates on how they are doing and discuss what’s to come in Dundee’s creative community.
Amps Supporter Louise Kirby reflected on the experience: “The Amps Breakfasts is great to feel connected with real people seeing faces and hearing opinions about how others are dealing with the situation”.
We have used these opportunities to discuss challenges that seem particularly relevant at this time, such as economic sustainability, delivering digital events, supporting freelancers, and more. Beyond the insightful discussions, participants have found it helpful to have a safe space where they can see lots of familiar faces and share how they’ve been dealing with the situation.
Amps Supporter Mal Abbas also talked to us about the breakfasts: “Great start to the day with a catch up with the wonderful Amps Breakfast. During these difficult times, it’s so important to connect with the community. It’s a small comfort that we’re all going through a tough spell and that people are already thinking about community initiatives and collaborative projects. Nice to see people’s faces and get a cheeky look inside their house!“
As a community of thoughtful and diversely creative individuals, Amps has been a significant source of encouragement at this moment. If you’d like to join Amps you can find more here, and if the cost of the subscription is an issue for you we might be able to help out – just get in touch!
