Sat 25 Nov–Sat 2 Dec at the Keiller Centre
Coinciding with this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, NEoN presents an exhibition premiere of new work from artists Tara Baoth Mooney, Maf’j Alvarez, and Camille Baker.
Mammary Mountain is an intimate performative experience that explores disease within the body through the experience of breast cancer. This innovative new artwork uses cutting-edge technology to creatively explore and expose women’s healthcare struggles, particularly the hidden experiences of breast cancer treatment, with women’s lived experiences and their stories directly informing the work.
Audiences are invited to bear witness to the journey of the breast cancer experience, as narrated by survivors and patients. Within the VR world of Mammary Mountain, participants navigate a space that straddles perceptions of dream-like and reality. Multiple treatments and their effects on the mind and body are expanded through voices, each presenting their unique perspective.
