Creative Dundee is committed to sharing news and updates as we receive them to help support the creative sector across the city throughout the coronavirus pandemic. On this page, we will be sharing new updates and opportunities as we receive them.
Funding and grant support opportunities
- Creative Scotland Open Funding: Sustaining Creative Development will support creative practitioners to continue to develop work. Applicants will be encouraged to use funding to explore how best to sustain their practice, and reimagine their work, during the current climate and in the months to come.
- Screen Scotland Bridging Bursary Fund is a £1.5m fund that offers a one-off bursary to support freelance or self- employed screen practitioners.
- Self-Employment Income Support Scheme will support self- employed individuals (including members of partnerships) whose income has been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
- Scottish Government Coronavirus Business Support Fund (Grants) offers direct grant support to specific businesses.
- Enterprise Relief Fund is a £5 million fund from the Prince’s Trust and NatWest offering grants to self-employed people aged 18-30.
- Innovate UK Grant: A £20 million fund to support UK businesses to focus on emerging or increasing needs of society and industries during and following the Covid-19 pandemic.
- NHS Tayside Community Innovation Fund: Groups are invited to apply for a share of the funds between £500 and £25,000 (maximum of £18,000 for two years and a maximum of £25,000 over three years) to establish projects or take action to tackle issues which affect the everyday lives of people living in our communities.
- Community, Response, Recovery & Resilience Fund supports local charities and grassroots organisations across Scotland to help them respond to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and recover from its impact.
- The Third Sector Resilience Fund is a £20m emergency fund for charities, community groups, social enterprises and voluntary organisations in Scotland to support organisations that already deliver services and products but find themselves in financial difficulties directly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
- The Youth Scotland Action Fund supports community-based youth work affected by the Covid-19 Coronavirus.
- The Supporting Communities Fund is a £40m fund available to community organisations including those that are not registered charities to support small scale community resilience.
- The Wellbeing Fund £48m Wellbeing Fund from Scottish Government. The fund is to enable national and local action by third sector organisations to reach the most vulnerable groups.
- The National Emergency Trust Awards is raising funds for local charities and grassroots organisations that can provide vital support to people in the quickest way possible.
- Small Businesses Support Fund: £10,000 grant to ratepayers of businesses in receipt of the Small Business Bonus Scheme or Rural Relief. Business with a rateable value up to £18,000 are eligible. It has now been extended to include Charitable Rates Relief. You can also get this grant if you applied for Nursery Relief or Disabled Relief but are eligible for the Small Business Bonus Scheme. Retail, hospitality and leisure business ratepayers with a rateable value between £18,001 – £50,999 can apply for a one-off grant of £25,000.
- Additional £220m Government Funding for Small Business Grant & Self Employed: Around £220 million of further grants are being made available for businesses – including the recently self-employed – to help deal with the ongoing impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
- The Emergency Art Workers Support Fund: Visual Arts Scotland has initiated the Emergency Art Workers Support Fund (EAWSF), a temporary relief fund that aims to support Creative Practitioners who have been impacted by COVID-19.
- The Goldsmiths’ COVID-19 Fund: The Goldsmiths’ Company and Charity have now launched a £1 million fund – the Goldsmiths’ COVID-19 Fund – to support individuals working in the jewellery, silversmithing and allied trades and help them through a period of hardship to sustain the craft, skills and future of the industry during an unprecedented period in most people’s lifetimes.
- Scottish Government – Support for the newly self-employed and firms suffering hardship: The Scottish Government has confirmed more info on the £100 million fund to support the self-employed and SMEs announced last week. It will be broken into three separate funds as follows:• £34 million Newly Self-Employed Hardship Fund, managed by Local Authorities, will be allocated to the newly self-employed facing hardship through £2,000 grants.
• £20 million Creative, Tourism & Hospitality Enterprises Hardship Fund, managed by the Enterprise Agencies in partnership with Creative Scotland and VisitScotland for creative, tourism and hospitality companies not in receipt of business rates relief.
• £45 million Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund, managed by the Enterprise Agencies for vulnerable SME firms who are vital to the local or national economic foundations of Scotland. - Creative, Tourism & Hospitality Hardship Fund This fund is designed for companies that are ineligible for other COVID-19 grant support or are not yet in receipt of the funds they need to survive.
- Pivotal Enterprise Resiliance Fund: This grant is for businesses that can play a critical role in supporting Scotland’s recovery but need some immediate support. It might be to get back up and running or to maintain or diversify your current operations.
- The Newly Self-Employed Hardship Grant: You need to apply in your Local Authority area. You may only apply to this fund once. You will be asked to provide documentary evidence of your status and eligibility for the grant. Local authorities will then determine whether you meet the criteria, which has been set by the Scottish Government.
- Peer support & coaching with Shifter Circles: As part of the pandemic response, a new (virtual) third sector peer support programme has been introduced. Circles connects you with a small group of peers and an expert facilitator to help you work through tough choices, get instant and honest feedback, discover new tactics, and get support during the uncertain months ahead. Places are limited right now due to high demand, but there is still time to register.
- COVID-19 Resilience Tactics & Tips: The Social Shifters Scotland platform has produced 20 new video interviews with third sector regulators, funders, and advisory services. These give practical insights, tactics, and tips on how the third sector can respond to the evolving Covid-19 situation. Content is updated daily.
- Bank of Scotland Foundation: Bank of Scotland Foundation recognises that coronavirus (Covid-19) will have a huge impact on charities throughout Scotland. In many instances, charities will be even more crucial than ever in providing practical and emotional support and tackling isolation. To ensure Reach supports a greater number of charities over the coming months, for the remainder of 2020, Reach will be a monthly programme. The eligibility criteria has also been broadened and charities with an income of £1.5m or less can now apply for funding between £5,000 – £30,000 over one year.
- Heritage Emergency Fund: Providing a package of support for the heritage sector as a response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. This includes increased advice and support, longer-term skills and capacity building initiatives, and a £50 million Heritage Emergency Fund to provide emergency funding for those most in need. The Heritage Emergency Fund is accepting applications for two grant levels to cover emergency costs during this difficult time – Emergency grants of £3,000 – £50,000 & £50,000 – £250,000. The application criteria and priorities are different for each level of funding.
- The Co-op Local Community Fund helps pay for local projects that our members care about. Every time our members shop at Co-op, 1% of what they spend on selected own-branded products and services goes to help fund community projects where they live. We also give all money raised from shopping bag sales to our causes, to help even more. Closes 28 June.
- Resourcing Radical Justice Fund: The purpose of the Resourcing Racial Justice fund is to provide financial support to individuals and organisations that are working to redress the impact of COVID-19 and beyond on those who identify as People of Colour (POC). Closes 15 June.
- The VOLANT Charitable Trusts primary focus is to support women, children and young people who are at risk and facing social deprivation. Important Message On Coronavirus Foundation Scotland – We are open. Reassurance on supporting communities, charities and social enterprises following the impact of Coronavirus. Opens 01 July.
- Dundee Partnership Community Regeneration Fund is now open again for applications for activities/projects that aim to reduce deprivation and provide additional opportunities to close the gap for those living in our Community Regeneration Areas that can deliver over the summer (July & August), whilst ensuring they can follow government guidelines in relation to safe social distancing.
- Royal Bank of Scotland Social and community Capital are offering £1 million in grants to organisations across the UK who employ people from disadvantaged or vulnerable groups. Applications open on Monday 22 June 2020.
