James Morwood is a programmer and game maker, creating little worlds for people to create their own stories in through artworks, games and zines. He was immediately drawn to illustrating everyone’s Breakfast bubbles overlapping, capturing the togetherness we experience despite being in different places.
“Amps worlds tries to capture the togetherness that Amps Breakfast makes me feel. Our little worlds overlapping for a short time each week, it has been difficult to get out of my little bubble over the pandemic but every time I join Amps Breakfast I shift into a shared space, hear stories and laughter that I otherwise wouldn’t have. It is a little thing but just the act of smiling and waving at the end of each Breakfast always leaves me feeling excited for the day ahead.”
To mark the two year milestone of meeting online each week since March 2020, we asked some Amps to create a piece of work that both reflects their practice and celebrates building community, forming connections, and the joy of Amps Breakfast!
This blog is one of several celebrating Two Years of Virtual Amps Breakfasts. Breakfast is a weekly opportunity that brings together supporters of Creative Dundee’s Amps network to chat and connect. New faces are always welcome—join Amps and come along!
