We Are Here Scotland are looking for new mentors who can offer practical career support and guidance to the successful recipients of their Creators’ Fund. Now on round two, the Creators’ Fund aims to provide practical funding opportunities for Black and POC artists and creatives across Scotland, along with one-to-one mentorship from experienced industry professionals.
They’re currently accepting notes of interest from anyone who would like to be considered as a mentor – particularly from people from Black and POC communities, as well as allies.
Previous mentors have included: Etienne Kubwabo (filmmaker, presenter, and writer); Heather Parry (writer, editor, and publisher); Cat Hepburn (award-winning writer for stage, screen and page); Julian Bailey (photographer); and Matt Hickman (singer-songwriter, producer and filmmaker).
If this sounds like something you would be interested in then let them know! Those who are selected as mentors will receive a payment of £30 per hour.
We Are Here Scotland is a Community Interest Company with an aim to amplify the voices BPoC (Black People and People of Colour), in particular artists and creatives who reside in Scotland. They aim to provide opportunities for artists and creatives to share their work, connect with each other, and have their voices heard within the wider art community. The presence of BPoC artists and creatives working within Scotland’s creative industries are significantly underrepresented, and this must change.
