3rd September, 11:00am at ScrapAntics Wellgate Space
September brings the launch of City Soundscapes – a site specific trail connecting people, places and sound in Dundee. The project opens doors to new ways of listening to and engaging with the city’s vibrant sonic environment, encouraging people to make their own sounds and music in the place where they live.
Sat 17 September, 1:00–2:30pm
Meet at the War Memorial on Dundee Law
Free and open to all
Join a field trip and listening walk, weaving along a sound-trail that starts at the Law Hill, playing site-specific sound games along the way, including Seagull Song, Tatha and The Law. You’re welcome to bring any small instruments to play, but your voice and body percussion, like clapping, are plenty! All activities and games are suitable for musicians and non-musicians, including total beginners.
You can collect a field kit at the event, which includes a book of Warm Up Games and a map to explore sound-making in the city.

Creative Dundee are delighted that City Soundscapes was made possible by our Amps network’s Community Ideas Fund. You can find out about the project’s inspirations and aspirations in this blog.
Each December, our Amps network come together for our annual Forum. Alongside connecting and conversation, everyone can vote on the Community Ideas Fund, which is awarded annually to a new Amps collaboration that will have a positive impact in Dundee—and with 50% of all Amps subscriptions going towards the pot, it’s a Fund that exists thanks to our growing community.
Got an idea for a project that could positively impact Dundee? Amps can team up to pitch new creative collaborations that benefit the wider city, with the network voting to decide which project will receive support. The more Amps there are, the bigger the fund—last year’s was £2,500!
