Have something you want to say about creative life, practice or industry in Dundee? We’re looking for creators interested in pitching work for feature on the Creative Dundee website.
Creative Dundee is all about shouting out, connecting and supporting the incredible creative networks all around the city. Through original content we aim to platform the views and voices of a broad range of creatives in Dundee, across different disciplines, and as individuals, collectives, and grassroots organisations.
This year we’re looking to commission creators to explore topics that expand the conversation on the creative industries in Dundee, or highlight socially engaged perspectives on the role of creativity in climate action, wellbeing, activism and more.
If you have an existing idea for a blog or feature, or would like to register your interest in being commissioned for our website – we would love to hear from you!
Key information:
- We want to create a pool of creators who are interested in exploring topics that are relevant to the city’s creative networks and their social impacts locally, and are open to being contacted by our Digital Producer to discuss creating work for our website.
- We want this work to represent a broad range of perspectives from across Dundee, particularly ensuring that the voices of people of colour/of the global majority, working class people, neurodiverse people, disabled people, and people within the LGBTQIA+ community are centred and included. If you are of or identify with any of these communities/groups/characteristics, you are welcome – but not expected – to let us know.
- If commissioned, guest creators will be asked to contribute 500–1,000 words (or audio / video equivalent) on an agreed topic/theme/prompt. We may make suggestions for aspects of the format and content but are flexible to how this is explored.
- We want your personal perspective and unique voice to inform what you share, and we’re open to guest creators choosing a style that best suits this. For example: journalistic feature, interview, fiction, audio or visual storytelling, comic, personal essay, poetry etc. You can browse our Original Features page for examples of previously featured work.
- While we will ask for samples of your work, this does not need to be professionally published or previously commissioned work. These samples are mainly to showcase your style and to give us an idea of how you might approach responding to a particular theme/topic/prompt. They could be anything from a full article to a social media post.
- If commissioned, a fee of £200 will be paid on delivery of the final work. This fee is inclusive of the development and creation of the piece, with space for two rounds of feedback from the Creative Dundee team.
- If you have any questions or need any further clarification, please email our Digital Producer Freya on freya@creativedundee.com.
Deadline: 10pm, Fri 30 May
