- This year’s Amps Community Ideas Fund is now live, and is currently £2,000! The fund invites two or more Amps to team up on a collaboration that’ll have a positive impact in the city, with our network choosing which idea will come to life.
- UNESCO City of Design Dundee are going to be hosting Scotland Re:Design at their Union Street space during November’s Fashion Festival 2022—find out how to join the SRD Collective pop-up shop!
- See work by ceramicist Steph Liddle at the Making History exhibition, featuring creations by makers working on community engagement projects inspired by historical buildings. At Arbroath Signal Tower Museum until Sat 15 October.
- ScrapAntics have an artist call-out for their Festival of Light. They’re looking for art pack idea submissions that will help families get creative with window artworks this winter.
Events
- This year’s Festival of the Future launches on Wed 12 October, with a brilliant programme of events that celebrate shared experiences, connecting with nature, health and wellbeing, and looking after our spaces and places.
- Get ready for the Maggie’s Dundee Culture Crawl! Registration for this special Hallowe’en sponsored walk is now open—stops include V&A Dundee, Discovery Point, DCA, Verdant Works, and Wasps Meadow Mill, with ghost stories, a ceilidh, food and more along the way.
- There’s just over a week left to catch Don Quixote – Man of Clackmannanshire at Dundee Rep Theatre—a funny, poignant, unruly tale of the basic human need to be seen and heard.
- DCA’s Discovery Film Festival is back! With a whole host of film and activities for wee ones, little kids, bigger kids and young people, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Workshops
- Looking to cosy up indoors and get creative? Dundee Ceramics Workshop have lots of upcoming classes to try, from one-day classes to eight-week introductions to wheel-throwing.
- Life Drawing Club offers untutored opportunities to work on your drawing skills at Hunter S Thompson. Next session: Wed 5 October, 7pm, £5—follow their Instagram for future dates.
- All aboard HMS Unicorn for Knots and Crosses! Get hands on with knots at a free, family-friendly event for the launch of Dr J. Larry Scrimgeour’s book, The Celtic Cross, on Fri 21 October.
- Blend Coffee Lounge have lots of creative workshops coming up over October, and they’re also looking for folks to host new classes—drop them a message to find out more.

- Opening at GENERATORprojects on Fri 7 October: George Finlay Ramsay and collaborators present Family Fugue, centring around a film about how we are haunted by—and in turn haunt—our ancestors.
- This month you can visit Discovery Point’s new Discovery Dome! This new gallery space offers a multi-sensory interactive chance to reflect on Dundee’s past and look ahead to the future.
- Now open at the Cooper Gallery, Chimera brings together new and existing works by Rosalind Nashashibi and Lucy Skaer, nudging us to consider how we perceive the world around us.
- Whose lives do museum collections reflect? The McManus address the legacy of the past in Hidden Histories, a new exhibition that explores their work in sharing wider stories and standpoints.
