One of the many perks of being part of our Amps community is the yearly forum which brings everyone together for some drink, music, games, and the opportunity to vote on their favourite pitch for the Community Ideas Fund – which will be presented on the night! If you are not part of Amps yet, you can still join here and book your free ticket for the forum below.
Last year the forum was one of the highlights of our calendar! It was a very informal and fun opportunity to connect with the wider community and see what’s out there in Dundee. You will hear from the recently formed collaborations pitching for the Community Ideas Fund – which is now at £1,500 – and then get a chance to pick your favourite, anonymously! Last year’s winners, Gemma and Mal, had a great pitch and did some amazing work with the fund!
For anyone who is part of Amps, this event is free but booking is required! If you are not an Amp yet, have a read about last year’s forum and consider joining the community. If you are part of Amps but cannot attend the forum, we will make sure you can access an exclusive live feed and vote online on your favourite pitch!
Creative Dundee’s Amps project aims to help us all create a better way to build Dundee’s local creative scene, our communities and the future of the city. You can read more about the Amps project here, and if you have any questions about being part of Amps, just touch with Claire or Andy. You can find our current Amps Supporters here.
Thanks to a generous contribution from someone in the Amps community, we will be able to provide free transport for anyone in Dundee whose disability impedes or makes it harder to attend this event. If that’s you, book a ticket and email us at news@creativedundee.com and we’ll organise an accessible taxi to take you to the event and back!
Projects for the 2018 Community Ideas Fund include:
The Typography Treasure Hunt event aims to teach the basics of typography in a fun way by sending people onto the streets of Dundee – collaboration between fellow Amps Connor Finlayson, local designer and student who runs @typedundee on Instagram, and Ryan McLeod, half of design studio Agency of None who has worked on a range of creative projects including the Open/Close Dundee street art tours.
An exhibition of Hope is a touring interactive exhibition showcasing art & works from both projects – collaboration between fellow Amps Just Bee Productions, community based charity that uses creative arts to work alongside people at times of struggle and Making Dundee Home, a community based project that aims to make Dundee home for everyone, an inclusive inviting place to just bee.
A public art trail in Stobswell which will engage the local community whilst celebrating the fact that Dundee is more than just the waterfront – collaboration between fellow Amps Saoirse Anis, an interdisciplinary artist with a background in performance, photography and sculpture, an interest in curation and a passion for making art accessible, Nicole Cumming, an artist working within a variety of media including still and moving imagery, woodwork and printmaking. Sekai Machache, a visual artist in residence and associate staff member of University of Dundee’s DJCAD and founding member of the Yon Afro Collective.
