- Dundee Fringe is back! From Fri 15 – Sun 24 September enjoy a packed lineup of theatre, comedy, live music and more from local favourites and visiting performers.
- Agency of None are welcoming designers back to their studio for another Open House. Keep an eye on their instagram for all the details on how to join them on Wed 27 September.
- A brand new issue of Windfall* is due to launch on Fri 29 September! While you wait, check-out the previous issues and read some fantastic sample articles.
- Take a day trip to St Andrews and Fife’s coastal communities to find 30 giant scottie dog sculptures that have popped up for the Scotties by the Sea free art trail. Keep an eye out for the lovely scotties designed by a few of our Amps supporters!
Events
- Join Abertay University to celebrate the culmination of their InGAME International China-UK video game co-production project with an evening of talks, panels and play on Thu 14 September.
- Dundee Art Society’s free monthly artist talks return after their summer break on Fri 15 September with Open/Close Dundee’s Russell Pepper sharing more about the street art project.
- On Sat 16 September head to Fairmuir Community Garden for their wonderful Harvest Festival. Save the date and keep an eye on their Facebook for more details!
- The V&A Dundee celebrates its 5th birthday this month with a bumper day of free exhibitions, live music, tours, food and family fun on Sat 16 September.
Workshops
- Join Creative Informatics at DCA on Thu 7 September for a workshop exploring the potential of Creative AI in Scotland followed by a showcase of AI-driven performances.
- Coin Operated Press and the University of Dundee Museums are relaunching the DJCAD Zine Library! Join them on Wed 13 September to learn more about the collection and create your own zines.
- The Double Door Studios team are celebrating their newly refurbished studio with a range of workshops from Islay Spalding, Christina Vernon and HungUp Frames running across September and October.
- The Acting Lab have a new course ready to book this month! Join them for Acting is a Team Sport, a set of collaborative, team-focused acting classes to boost confidence and nurture your playful side.
Opportunities
- The busy team at GENERATORprojects have two opportunities for you to get involved! They’re searching for new committee members and for an emerging mural artist with both applications closing midnight, Sunday 10 September.
- Federation Gallery are looking to build a board of directors. If you’d be interested in supporting the gallery in this role, join them on Wed 13 September to find out more.
- Exciting opportunity to join DJCAD and the National Gallery as Assistant Curator for The Triumph of Art, a new commission from Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller. Applications close Sun 17 September.
- Dundee Zine Fest is making its much-anticipated return in November! If you’d like to take part, applications for stallholders are now open until Mon 18 September.
Exhibitions
- Don’t miss multidisciplinary artist Rachel Bride Ashton’s first Dundee solo show, Warm Data, Wet Heap, at Federation Gallery until Sat 23 September.
- New York-based artist Rachel Eulena Williams showcases a new body of work across painting, sculpture and installation in Hair and Body. Now open at DCA until Sun 18 November.
- The second annual Old Contemporaries exhibition featuring final year students and newly emerging artists aged 30+ from across Scotland opens at GENERATORprojects from Wed 20 – Sat 23 September.
- Now vending at Volk Gallery until Fri 6 October; Embodied by Dylan Chalmers explores Dundee’s cityscape and questions our changing built environment through a series of postcards.
Content
- We’ve been loving the snapshots of illustrator Cara Rooney’s day throughout her 100 Days of Drawing Challenge!
- Creative Chit Chat is back with a brand new series of interviews picking the brains of brilliant creatives connected to Dundee. First up to the mic are Stephanie Crowe and Kevin Sinclair of Muckle Studios!
- Disney veteran and creator of The Worst Journey in The World graphic novel, Sarah Airriess, leads a video tour of the RRS Discovery with a fresh perspective: looking at it through the pages of a graphic novel!
