- Dundee Fringe is back! From Fri 13 – Sun 22 September enjoy a packed lineup of theatre, comedy, live music and more from local favourites and visiting performers.
- Calling zine makers of all shapes, sizes and paper stocks – Dundee Zine Fest returns for 2024 and submissions for stallholders are now open! Apply by 5pm, Fri 20 September.
Events
- Mint Chinese Film Festival comes to DCA from Sun 8 September, including the Scottish premiere of Guián and silent film Xi Xiang Ji accompanied by a special live performance from Edinburgh-based musician and composer Aurora Engine.
- The Maxwell Garden is celebrating their 10th birthday and everyone is invited to join them on Sat 14 September for a day of good food, fun and community!
- Head to V&A Dundee or join them online on Fri 20 September for one-day conference Destruction by Design, exploring politically motivated, intentional damage and destruction of cultural heritage.
- Showcasing the work of 19 graduate video game development teams, ProtoPlay is a free, interactive event where you can get hands-on with brand new games from the industry’s upcoming stars. Join the fun on Fri 27 and Sat 28 September.
Workshops
- Find inspiration or share your work with fellow creatives at Blank Space, a biweekly writing group aiming to create a community around new local literary voices.
- Dundee printmaker Pamela Scott is back at Forgan Arts Centre for Introduction to Lino Printing on Sat 21 September. Join the workshop to learn the full process of designing, cutting and printing an A5 black and white linocut.
- Get ready for autumn and spooky season with the Pinched Pumpkins hand building workshop at Dundee Ceramics Workshop on Sat 21 September, and make your very own set of miniature pumpkins!
- Looking to learn crochet or need help with a crochet project? Join Off the Hook Studio for a weekly drop-in Crochet Class at Creative Studios Dundee for some expert crafting advice in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Opportunities
- Hospitalfield are hiring for the interim role of Residency Programme Manager, supporting artists and managing the core residency programme activity. Applications close 5pm, Mon 9 September.
- The Scottish Documentary Institute are searching for 12 emerging filmmakers to take part in Bridging the Gap, offering development training, £8,500 cash budget and in-kind support, and six months of mentoring. Applications close Sun 15 September.
- Launching in September, Immersive Arts is a new three-year UK wide programme breaking down barriers for artists to create with immersive technologies through a programme of funding, training and more. Join the Glasgow Inspiration Day on Wed 25 September to find out more about immersive technology and accessing Immersive Arts funding.
- A Play, A Pie and A Pint and Birds of Paradise are collaborating to commission an emerging disabled playwright to bring a new play to life as part of the 2025 PPP season. Applications close 5pm, Tue 1 October.
Exhibitions
- Dundee Design Festival is back from Mon 23 – Sun 29 September with a packed programme of events, workshops and exhibitions including BOOKENDS, a specially commissioned collection of 20 bookends designed and made in Scotland, and FRAMEWORK, a unique snapshot of contemporary Scottish design.
- Visit DCA’s Centrespace from Sat 28 September – Sun 6 October for the Made in DCA Print Studio exhibition with the opportunity to view and buy an incredible array of work by local artists.
- Every Seed is Awakened, the first solo exhibition in Scotland from multidisciplinary artist Claudia Martínez Garay is now showing at DCA until Sun 17 November.
- Visit The McManus for Impressed, an exhibition showcasing Dundee’s magnificent collection of twentieth century fine art prints including work by Peter Howson, Lil Neilson, and June Redfern. Running until Mon 18 November.
Content
- Enjoy some satisfying signwriting content as the the iconic Verdant Works Museum green gates get a facelift courtesy of Dundee signwriter Barry Robertson!
