6th August, at Mary Ann Lane
Dundee’s All-Female Paint Jam is back for a second year! Organised by Diamages, a street artist based in Dundee whose work you’ll almost certainly have seen around, the event aims to provide a welcoming space for women in the city to paint and meet like-minded people.
The graffiti and street art community in Dundee has a growing number of female artists, but it’s a space where some artists say they traditionally haven’t felt welcomed or supported. But the All-Female Paint Jam is hoping to plant the seeds of change to support more women artists to get involved and join the community.
Taking place at the legal street art wall on Mary Ann Lane, participating artists—ranging from those with experience to complete beginners—will have a blank canvas to explore painting techniques and create their artwork.
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to come and support those taking part—ideal for those who are curious about what’s going on but don’t fancy getting in on the painting action. If you DO want to get in on the action then just get in touch with Diamages on Instagram so that she can fill you in on all the important information. And if it all seems a bit daunting and you’re not sure what you need, she can also give you some pointers on what to buy and where to buy it.
Interested in finding out more about street art and public art around the city? You’re in luck—we wrote a blog about just that!
