Pass The Mic: Stories from Creative Dundee

Pass The Mic is a Creative Dundee publication all about our history and work in Dundee, a great chance for you to find out more about what we do and have a look into our journey! Read the online version here or get in touch to pick up a physical copy!

Creative Dundee started all the way back in 2008, first as a website, amplifying all the creative things happening around the city. It was a side-project, one of the tons of blogs being created in those early years of social media which could have very easily been abandoned or left out of date for years, but something different happened…

As the site became more and more of a valuable resource for the city, it started to go beyond its original intent of amplifying what was already going on and began to connect individuals around Dundee. As people got together, connections were made, collaborations started, new projects born. Eleven years later Creative Dundee has become a Creative Scotland RFO, regularly hosted the biggest UK’s Pecha Kucha Nights and counts on the support of both a staff team and a community of creative people in Dundee and beyond.

Pass The Mic is our first ever publication of this size outlining the history of Creative Dundee and its relationship to our city. We hope you’ll be inspired by it and get to know a bit more about what we do & how you could connect with us. You can read an online version of the publication here. If you want a physical copy, you can pick one up at our events or get in touch to organise a pickup with the team!

In this guide, beautifully designed by Patrick Hughes and printed by Bruce Clark Printers, you will find out more about Creative Dundee’s overall story as well a more in-depth look at its key projects, like; Pecha Kucha Night Dundee, Creative Industries Strategy, Dundee Soup, Amps, Small Society Lab, Behind the Scenes Tours, Original Content, Fabric, the 99 Things to See and Do in Dundee Guide, Act Locally, Mass Assembly and much more!

Though this is a way to showcase what Creative Dundee has been up to, it’s also a way to celebrate that thing that happens when passionate, creative and committed people start connecting with each other. It’s a thing that is hard to define but impossible to ignore. It’s a community.

We can’t wait to see what the next eleven years will bring…
