- Grab a last-minute ticket for the launch of Creative Carbon Scotland’s Creative Degrowth Network on Wed 7 June and join the urgent work to build connections across cultural, economic, climate and community networks.
- All aboard for Scottish Dance Theatre’s new family show, ‘Pirates!’, running at Dundee Rep from Tue 13–Sat 17 June.
- Dundee Graffiti Jam is back at DPM Park, Sat 24 and Sun 25 June, with an amazing line-up of artists and DJs.
- Art Night is taking over Dundee’s cultural and public spaces on Sat 24 June with an incredible programme of live events, installations, and performances, including 10 new commissions and 12 projects highlighting Dundee’s homegrown arts and community programming.
Workshops
- What’s been the social and cultural impact of V&A Dundee since it opened in 2018? Independent researchers tialt want to explore this question on Tue 27 June with people from Dundee’s creative sector. Register your interest in joining by Tue 13 June.
- Young people can join ScrapAntics for two special events in collaboration with Art Night! Action social change through play at Playful Protest on Sat 17 June, and explore plants through music and sound-making at Plant Sounds on Fri 7 July.
- Enjoy an evening of jewellery making with local jeweller Kirsten Manzi on Thu 22 June at Dock Street Studios and learn how to make a simple textured silver pendant or pair of earrings.
- Join Dundee Art Society for a wonderful array of weekly workshops and classes including tutored Life Drawing sessions on Monday evenings.
Opportunities
- Applications open on Thu 8 June for the We Are Here Creators’ Fund Round 3. The fund provides BPoC artists and creatives with micro-funds of £500 to help support their professional development.
- Toot your own horn and nominate your work, or submit your favourite composers, musicians, sound artists and ensembles for the Scottish Awards for New Music 2023! Applications close Mon 12 June.
- Join the SCPR Network for an all day event on Mon 19 June to share your perspective and discuss the creative sector and post-Covid recovery in Scotland.
- Get involved with this year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival through their open call for events and two commissions exploring the theme of ‘Revolution’.
Exhibitions
- Cooper Gallery presents ‘Dream Land’; a new commission from Turner Prize nominated artist Heather Phillipson remixing and revoicing scenes from 1980s BBC nature documentaries. Join them for the exhibition preview on Fri 16 June.
- Nine designers and artists come together to share their love of nature in ‘Outside In‘, a new exhibition at Roseangle Gallery from Fri 16–Sun 25 June.
- Join recent DJCAD graduate and artist Gail Neckel for ‘smARTphone + NATURE‘, an interactive exhibition at Dundee Botanic Gardens from Sat 24 June–Sun 9 July.
- Head to the Atelier-M Studio Gallery in Longforgan for ‘Japanscape‘, a new exhibition of watercolours by Liz Dulley from Sat 3–Mon 26 June.
